Thought of the day: Just stop talking Scatt Adams
Scott Adams the king of cubical humour, detractor of the corporate machine has managed to have a Dilbert moment of epic proportions.
Adams had been using an alias – PlannedChaos, seriously – on a number of message boards in order to defend some seriously misguided comments he had previously made in his blog. Often defending himself under the guise of being a huge fan, rather than the huge douche he ended looking.
PlannedChaos wrote on MetaFilter: “As far as Adams’ ego goes, maybe you don’t understand what a writer does for a living. No one writes unless he believes that what he writes will be interesting to someone. Everyone on this page is talking about him, researching him, and obsessing about him. His job is to be interesting, not loved. As someone mentioned, he has a certified genius I.Q., and that’s hard to hide.”. Truly amazingly insightful comment thank you Mr Adams.
Now if this was his first and only major Dilbert moment it probably wouldn’t rate but the build up to this unfortunate situation involves an even bigger Dilbert moment. After being asked to talk about mens rights on his blog – was it PlannedChaos that asked ? – Adams went on misogynistic rant, justifying women earning less than men, comparing women to children begging for candy. Excellent move mister self-proclaimed genius. The PlannedChaos situation was Adams attempt at defending these misogynistic comments. This may suggest he was unable to understand the impact of what he had said. People did obviously try to let him know as the blog was removed a couple of days after posting. To view the blog you need to go here. Hilarious is the size of the shovel he uses to dig himself a hole, the more say says the deeper it gets.
And digging he continues to do, after Gawker caught him out Adams copped to being “PlannedChaos,” writing, “I am Scott Adams.” Gawker confirmed Adams’ identity with MetaFilter’s founder. Later Adams followed up with this comment: “I’m sorry I peed in your cesspool. For what it’s worth, the smart people were on to me after the first post. That made it funnier.”. Sad clown funny maybe, keep digging Scott.
But don’t worry Scott Adams, he’s here to save the world, “Being green is hard. My wife and I recently built what is arguably the greenest home for miles around. OK, stop. This is a good time to define green. The greenest home is the one you don’t build. If you really want to save the Earth, move in with another family and share a house that’s already built. Better yet, live in the forest and eat whatever the squirrels don’t want.
Don’t brag to me about riding your bicycle to work; a lot of energy went into building that bicycle. Stop being a hypocrite like me.” ~ YIKES ~ In yet another rant on USA Today Adams once again painted himself as the last true greeny “By building a Green home we can all learn from his mistakes” he goes on to say at USA Today “Photovoltaic systems are a waste of money, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat, because I love the Earth, damn it. In my defense, the price of your future photovoltaic system will never come down unless idiots like me pay too much today. You’re welcome.”, not even trying to dig but there he goes with that shovel again.
Who would have thought comic book Dilbert is just everyday Scott Addams, keep up the blogs Scott, hilarious.
Lets just wait and see if Scott can become the first man ever to dig clear through to China.
